Via ad Mortem: Mysticism and Fury in Contemporary
Black Metal. Formed in 2025 on the geographical axis
between Verona and Treviso, Via ad Mortem
represent one of the most enigmatic and spiritually
dense bands in the new wave of Italian black metal.
The Veneto trio offers a dark, cultured, and
uncompromising sound that rejects modern trends
to reconnect with the more ritualistic, philosophical,
and esoteric aspects of extreme metal.
Their artistic approach is not limited to pure sonic
violence, but takes the form of a true initiatory journey,
where music becomes a means to explore the boundaries
of existential transition. Shrouded in an aura of mystery
and focused exclusively on the lyrical and sonic message,
the project is led by three multifaceted musicians:
Hiems Silens (Guitars and Bass) (architect of the melodic
textures and walls of distorted sound); and Gibil
(Drums) (responsible for the tight, obsessive rhythms).
Santamuertero Sinister Keyboards and Vocals
(the mastermind behind the solemn atmospheres
and symphonic counterpoints). Their Debut Manifesto:
Requiem I: Through the Path, over the Ruins, with which
the band formalized their entry into the underground
scene with its official full-length release. Released
in May 2026 via Northern Darkness Records,
the album marks the prestigious return to
the market of the historic underground label,
one of the most active in Italy in the 1990s.
The work is a perfect balance between the primordial
intransigence of old-school black metal (with accents
close to the Italian tradition of bands like Spite Extreme
Wing) and dramatic, epic, and contemplative
atmospheric openings that recall the style of Drudkh.
Concept and Lyrics: At the heart of Via ad Mortem's
world is a profound and cultured reflection on Death, understood not as a simple biological end,
but as a spiritual dissolution and cosmic passage.
The lyrics eschew sterile nihilism to embrace
the study of necromancy, archaic esoteric traditions,
voodoo, and the cycles of destruction and rebirth
of the universe. Each track thus unfolds like
a station in a long and hieratic "musical funeral."
